Mike Fowlks

A resident of Murray City, Mike Fowlks joined the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in 1993 and became director in 2017 after serving as a deputy director since 2012. He served on the Pacific Flyway Council for eight years, and in a variety of leadership roles for the Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, including as president. He started his career as a conservation officer and eventually became the law enforcement chief.
Fowlks holds an undergraduate degree in zoology and animal biology from the University of Utah and graduated from the FBI National Academy for Law Enforcement Administrators and the National Conservation Leadership Institute. He is past secretary of the Utah chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation for twelve years.
Fowlks interests are hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, shooting and golf. He loves spending time with his Wife Suzette and his kids and grandkids. “My grandkids and many other youth are the future for stewardship and protection of our wildlife resources beyond our efforts today.”
