Brett’s father Merrell was on the Utah Board of Big Game Control for 12 years, President of Beehive Wasatch Bowhunters and the Utah Wildlife Federation . He watched his father’s hard work to try and improve Utah’s outdoor heritage. Brett has quietly behind the scenes been involved with wildlife all his adult life, from helping BYU Professor Tom Smith with a habitat study for Bighorn Sheep on Bear Top Mt., signing up to be one of the first Dedicated hunters, and a Dedicated hunter volunteer job coordinator, helping on state of Utah G&F and state of Nevada G&F water fencing and guzzler installation projects, many sheep transplants and captures etc.. Brett was asked by Don Peay to be a part of an exciting idea the Full Curl Society to help put Sheep hunters (the average hard working guy) on the mountain. Brett was on the Committee for the the Full Curl society for 10 years helping dozens of hunters to achieve memories out on the mountain.
Brett was a Lifetime member of Beehive Wasatch bowhunters until he passed his LT. membership on to his son Nevada. He is a Lifetime member of the AZDBSS, NRA, SFW as well as annual member of WSF, MDF and SCI. He has been on numerous sheep hunts with family and friends. One of the many highlights of his life were being on his son Nevada’s Rocky Mt. Bighorn hunt in New Mexico as well as Nevada’s Arctic Red Dall Sheep hunt. He and his daughter in law Ali have helped with sheep captures together. Brett achieved his life long goal of obtaining his FC/GS in 2014. #1834
It is truly my honor to be on the Board for the UWSF. I look forward to working on a statewide Sheep guzzler inspection and maintenance program in conjunction with the UDWR, BLM and other organizations. I appreciate all the efforts of past Board members as well as all the loyal members who donate time and money to help put/keep sheep on the mountain!
